watched Batman Begins today..which was quite nice cos i was desperate to watch ANY movie...sheesh...i've missed so many movies i wanted to watch already...and faced with Batman everytime i go to work...it's really something that i HAD to watch...
Peter had said it was pretty good, so i had quite high expectations cos i trust his taste for movies. (since he watches so much darn tv and movie, he's qualified to be a critic)
watched it with vanessa and kevin (2nd time he's watching it, that crazy bugger,haha)...kate wanted to watch with us too..but she had to go back to prepare for e start of school...orhh..poor gal..but dun be sad..it's for yr own gd :) and it wasn't THAT great a movie...next time we watch another movie together ya? :D
okie, enough of that, to the movie then..
Blockbusters seem to follow a certain formula nowadays. Apparently, directors have deduced that, by taking the good elements of past movies, dumping them into a mixing pot, the resultant mixture will surely sell...here's what i checked off:
1) Philosophical Hero tag phrase: "Bruce, why do we fall?" --> "with great power, comes great responsibility"
2) Strong-willed gal who needs to be saved by hero, but can soothe hero's heart - the cute looking Katie Holmes who turns amazingly annoying and peripheral to the plot after her 3rd appearance
3) cool gadgets/gizmos - To be expected. But the whole drooling and ogling over the Batmobile is quite ridiculous. Midway into the main chase scene, i felt deja vu: was i watching an extended version of the Batmobile toy vehicle ad that i see everyday at work?
4) unsung hero/bumbling sidekick who is a gd man in e midst of crooks 4 unexplained reasons: Gordon in this case.
5) one-liners - too many to count, too inane for me to remember, though i recall sniggering at some for it's blatant use throughout e show & yet they seem to think it's witty. no one does it like Arnold "you're fired" Schwazenager.
6) twist in the plot - thanks to dear kevin, the twist was revealed to me 5 min into the show. thanks man. idiot. still, the plot wasn't of the Night Shamylan standard. i didn't really care who was behind the plot anyways, just wanna see some ass-kicking
7) hero's high hit points - No. of punches to get enemy down & out - max: 2-3. Hero after being punched on e average 1-2 times by 10-20 enemies - unscathed and still able to fly ard stylishly. think Steven Seagal. Where's Bruce Willis when u need him?
