yeah...yes ANOTHER bday announcement...so here goes: Happy 22nd bday melva! :)
went to Kubai Khan restaurant at Park Mall for the birthday dinner. Heard of that place a long long time ago from my army friends. Been meaning to try it. Even though i knew it was gonna be costly (argh) but, hey, it's a friend's birthday, so eat 2 birds with one spoon. well...gotta say that i expected a big variety of food but, as it was, the fare consisted mainly of japanese and continental. Japanese food was quite ok only. not very fresh. not very well made. but lotsa oysters and prawns, sushi and sashimi. the cold soba was not too bad tho..not too salty and not too bland. just that the noodles were a tad starchy. the continental food was pretty horrendous...nv knew lasagna could be steamed. and for a good reason: it sucks that way! stick to using the oven! pasta was basically ketchup + spaghetti. (presses fingers together and shakes->> russell peters fans, u know what i mean. and no, i'm not asking if you want to eat. ;P ) after that i just stuck to the jap stuff. loved the mussels man. but to give them some credit, there was this teppanyaki and "mongolian stir fry" thingy there that was pretty unique. the teppanyaki was quite alright, although the choice of ingredients were pretty pathetic. only abt 10 kinds? while the "mongolian stir fry" consisted of u picking a bowl-full of stuff for the chef to cook and then he goes on and stirring and frying, in the process sweeping 2/3 of the food you picked into the floor. perhaps it's some mysterious mongolian ritual for extracting the best part of the food for the customers. maybe even the latest diet trend. i don't know. pastries and ice cream were......sigh....let's not talk about it... still...for a grand price of $28, i definitely ate my fill..felt like crap after that...argh... my ratings for this restaurant? 1 finger up (not the thumb) - die die must try, then you die. haha...but it was quite fun bitching about the food, which was basically what happened during the meal...we really left no food uncritiqued. Perhaps its part of the restaurant's brilliant marketing gimmick to serve crappy food so that their customers can boast that "i can cook better than them". whatever. : went to TCC in holland village after that to chill...i was quite stoned by then..just ROC and let them talk while i stoned at them :) quite a fun day..at least a break from all the mugging...sheesh...just found that i gotta pick up the pace if i'm EVER gg to finish my study schedule. so this is the last blog while i mug. Pray for me pls! =D
