woowee...what a day! yup...brought the Pri 6 Boys for this year's edition of the BB Adventure Quest...first time for me personally too...got up at 6am (i hate waking up early!) n reached west coast park with the Boys at 8am to meet up with the rest of the Junior companies...gosh...The Lord really blessed us with alot of showers of blessing today...but thankfully, it never came to a downpour..just kinda drizzle all e way up to noon time... well...basically started at west coast park..e first check point was some puzzle concerning the stuff the Boys had learnt during normal BB parades...interestingly...i've previously done all e stuff that they asked the Boys to do...so, as it was, it wasn't too much a problem.. on to the next checkpoint, haw par villa...man...that place gives me the creeps...all those idols and 18 levels of hell stuff...not really settling stuff..and i kinda question the wisdom of the organisers to conduct some treasure-hunt kinda checkpoint there...some of the clues were like "buddha", "luck", "deity". i mean...what the heck? what msg are we sending to the Boys? anyways, that checkpoint was really frustrating cause 1) it was raining, 2) we were just given super ambiguous ( or rather, non-existent) instructions and ended up spending half the time figuring out what we had to do in the first place. Moreover, some of our clues were missing! ah well..at least it's over.. next stop was the MOE labrador adventure centre...wow...my Boys did me proud there...crossed the commando crawl obstacle in no time at all...in case u're wondering what the commando crawl is..just picture crawling on all fours...except this time u r crawling along 2 suspended ropes! yeah..like i said...they did us all proud :) the stop after that was at Mt Faber. And i have this to declare: My Boys and I climbed ACROSS Mt Faber..haha..yup..due to our "map-reading expertise" we ended on the wrong side of the mountain and had to trekked over and across Mt Faber..haha..like my Boys said...we may not be the fastest team to reach the checkpoint, but we're the "healthiest" team....hmmm...considering we were munching on junk food along the way, doesn't really seem like that's the case..but hey..whatever makes them happy yah? haha...yeah..jus gotta sidetrack abit..those Boys of mine have this really special gift..the ability to deceive themselves..haha..all along the way they kept telling themselves they still could be in the running for 2nd or 3rd place...(we ended up in 51st place)..and talked about how we could win prizes of X-box, PS2, etc, etc...yeah...really took nearly all my willpower to shut that damned mouth of mine and let them give themselves hope...hmm...something to learn from them perhaps..the power of optimism.. yeah..anyways...thank goodness that the next checkpoint was our final one: Junction 8... so after going through our by now customary habit of taking the wrong bus and going one whole circle, we got to the mrt stop. And when we reached bishan mrt station, quite naturally all the Boys sprinted. In different directions. So, after gaining insight into what Jesus said about the shephard and the lost sheep, i managed to shephard the flock to the finish line...not before giving them a piece of my mind of course... sigh....it's a happy day..no doubt about that..but just makes me think of how time flies..these Boys were from my 1st ever batch..love them to bits lah...darn funny at times and also infuriating too...haha...but the 1st generation will always stay in your heart and so would they. Thinking back of how they, as Pri 4s, were so shy, timid and innocent then, can really see that, now that they're in Pri 6, they are really growing up. hmm...kinda like fatherhood in some sense..watching your "kids" grow up....really wonder what trials and tribulations our Lord will allow them to face...pray that through BB, it would have made a difference, and at least planted the seeds in the non-believers.. all in all, a happy day! saftey and fun, what more can you ask for? PTL!
